Real Madrid’s Vinícius Jr. Offered Over €1 Billion to Move to Saudi Arabia

Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior has emerged as a new target for the Saudi Pro League. The 24-year-old Brazilian is reportedly considering a move to Saudi Arabia, although no formal offer has been extended yet.

Vinícius played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s successful 2023-24 season, helping the team secure both the Champions League and La Liga titles. His exceptional performance has made him a strong contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or. Since joining Madrid in 2018, he has scored in two Saudi Arabia finals and netted 24 goals across all competitions last season.

Discussions have occurred between Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Real Madrid about a potential transfer. However, Real Madrid is reportedly hesitant to let their star player go. The PIF, which holds a 75% stake in Saudi Arabia’s top football clubs—Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, and Al Nassr—has ambitious plans for Vinícius, including making him an ambassador for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup.

Reports suggest that the Saudis may offer Vinícius an annual salary of up to €350 million ($382.5 million). For the transfer to proceed, Real Madrid would likely need to agree to a fee below Vinícius’ release clause, which stands at an eye-watering €1 billion. His current contract with Madrid extends until June 2027.

As negotiations continue, Vinícius has not ruled out a move to Saudi Arabia, leaving the future of one of football’s brightest talents uncertain.
