News recently emerged about Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, the Nigerian-born founder of the now-defunct SPAC Nation, revealing a personal health struggle. In a pre-recorded sermon that quickly circulated on Thursday, Pastor Adegboyega shared with his congregation, The Nxtion Family, that he has been diagnosed with cancer and recently underwent significant surgery.
During the video message, he directly addressed the news, stating, “I was diagnosed with cancer. Yes, you heard me right.” He further explained, “I’ve been dealing with cancer for the past few months or even more. I just had a major surgery, that’s why I am not there today.”
Known for his distinctive lifestyle and ministry geared towards young people, Pastor Adegboyega characterized his recovery as a profound second chance, divinely granted. “I have just fought the battle and I feel the verdict to continue to live was given to me by God for a new level, for a new stage,” he remarked.
Pastor Adegboyega’s rise within London’s evangelical community was notable. His unconventional approach, often aimed at troubled youths, frequently put him in the media spotlight, particularly for his extravagant attire, luxury vehicles, and connections with celebrities.
However, his ministry has also faced considerable scrutiny. In 2022, SPAC Nation was formally shut down by UK authorities following an investigation into accusations of financial irregularities. A UK court subsequently cited the church’s inability to adequately account for £1.87 million in expenses as the basis for its dissolution.
