Davido has opened up about the quiet strength and reassurance he received from his wife, Chioma, after missing out on a Grammy win for the second time.
The singer’s track With You, featuring Omah Lay, was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category, a fiercely contested field that featured several Nigerian heavyweights. Burna Boy was nominated for Love, while Ayra Starr and Wizkid earned a joint nod for Gimme Dat, alongside entries from Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin. In the end, the award went to South African star Tyla for Push 2 Start, earning her a second Grammy.
Despite Nigeria’s strong showing, none of its nominees took home the prize. Speaking afterward, Davido shared how the loss briefly dampened his mood. He revealed that he initially suggested skipping the Grammy after-party, feeling it might be better to stay away.
Chioma, however, had other ideas. According to the singer, she urged him to step out and hold his head high, reminding him of the importance of grace in moments like that. Davido later shared photos from their outing and quoted her words, noting that she encouraged him to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
The moment offered a glimpse into the couple’s bond, with Davido crediting his wife’s support for helping him shake off the disappointment and move forward with confidence.
