Prominent social-political activist Aisha Yesufu has sent a pointed message to Nigerians regarding the burgeoning political coalition. This alliance, reportedly forming between aggrieved politicians from both the North and South, aims to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s government. Indeed, high-profile figures like All Progressives Congress (APC) leader Chibuike Amaechi, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai are among those vowing to unseat Tinubu in 2027.
Reacting on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Yesufu issued a stern warning: politics should not be left solely to those who can afford to purchase exorbitant nomination forms. Instead, she urged citizens to actively get involved and shape the political landscape themselves.
“Dear Nigerians, be the drivers of the coalition. Participate in it. Call the shots! Make demands!” she passionately wrote. “Ask for seats, tickets! While the usual politicians are positioning for the executive positions, position for the legislative position.”
She further advised citizens to consider carefully who they want as their state house of assembly members, House of Representatives members, and senators, stressing that these choices must become central to the coalition’s discussions. “Politics should not be left for people who can buy 200 million Naira forms alone,” Yesufu reiterated, underscoring the need for broader citizen participation.
